A volcanic crossing unlike any other
A rare volcanic corridor cutting across the Andes. A landscape shaped by fire, time, and constant transformation.
The Villarrica Traverse follows a unique geological formation in the Andean Patagonia: a transversal chain of volcanoes that breaks the dominant north–south orientation of the Andes. This rare configuration gives rise to a landscape of exceptional diversity and contrast.
Along the route, you move between three iconic volcanoes — Villarrica, one of the most active in South America, the eroded Mocho, and the silent yet studied Lanín. Each one tells a different story of formation, collapse, and ongoing volcanic activity.
